Despite the fact that it wasn't yet visiting time the hospital car park was full. More than full, people had abandoned their cars half way up grass banks, at odd angles on the pavement and in one case squeezed between two trees. The only hope of finding a parking space was to stalk someone walking back to their car and claim their spot before others realised they were leaving. Drivers were circling the car park like hungry sharks around a life raft.
With so many cars ahead the chances of getting to a space first were greatly diminished. Unless, Mark ignored the one way arrows and drove the car in the opposite direction to the traffic flow. We could see a couple getting into their car, driving the wrong way through the car park we could get there first. It was close but we did it. And that he said, "is the way of the salmon".
