I would do anything out of loyalty but I won’t do that!

I like to think I was loyal to my manager but if they resigned on a matter of principle I can’t image I would also resign in support. I would do anything out of loyalty but I won’t do that. I will stand by unpopular decisions. I will challenge anyone who criticises the boss/organisation. I will be enthusiastic and positive  even when things are bad. I will stay when others decide they have had enough. I will keep any doubts to my self.

Well I’m not sure I would do that. I wouldn’t criticise my boss in public or run down my organisation to colleagues from partner organisations but I would speak up behind closed doors in the Senior Management Team meeting. If a whistleblower exposed bad practise, abuse or corruption I wouldn’t try and cover it up as part of loyalty to the organisation. I wouldn’t desert an organisation just because it was struggling but I would leave to further my career.

My loyalty and support is not unconditional. I am reliable, faithful and steadfast but I am uncomfortable with the idea of being obedient.
