Px3 Launches New Toolset to Help Tackle Climate Emergencies

On-Line Sustainability Tools from Px3

Px3 provides a range of sustainability consulting and advisory services (please see our website for details) and also offers a unique set of free online tools for the public sector designed to simplify and accelerate reporting and adoption of "green" IT.

IT Carbon Footprint Reporting Tool - Free to the Public Sector

The new ITCF (TM) tool, launched by Px3 for Earth Day in April 2023, allows you to easily calculate and report on the scope 2 and scope 3 emissions of your end user computing (EUC) estate.

"ITCF seriously simplifies the work of calculating the climate footprint of our ICT inventory and I know I can trust the numbers behind it."

"It will save me from going down the deep rabbit hole of evaluating the carbon footprint of each single device we have in our operations"

The tool is 100% functional, with no time, usage or other restrictions. It even lets you save your results and report as a PDF. That means you can try out different scenarios, such as keeping devices for longer, and see the results.

"I especially like the ability to make full life cycle emissions calculations"

Simplifying Sustainable Procurement - Free to the Public Sector

The Px3 DCF (TM) tool allows you to review the carbon footprint of IT devices you might be considering for purchase.  You can set the number of years you typically keep a device and any preferences in terms of device types, form factors or manufacturers.

It will then show the scope 2 and scope 3 carbon footprint data from a range of manufacturers who have made their data available, tailored to the region and years of use you have selected. You can also select up to six entries for side by side comparison.

"As far as I know there’s nothing like DCF out there and I can’t imagine why organisations would go anywhere else to get CO2e information for their IT hardware inventory and purchasing decisions”

The tool also lets you save the individual product carbon footprint reports as PDFs.

Who is Using the Tools?

The tools are already widely used across the public sector by organisations such as the DWP, DfE, the NHS and local government. More details on both tools plus links to register are available on the PX3 website.  If you have any questions please contact me via the site or at ewen@px3.org.uk
