  • To support school leaders to deliver statutory duties.
  • To share good practice.
  • To help leaders and key personnel monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding policies and practice.

Description

One half day conference, delivered by Leadership Advisers at three different venues, providing school leaders with key information, skills and knowledge to deliver their statutory and other duties in respect of key areas within the Leadership of Safeguarding.

Outline

Each morning will comprise of sessions relating to:

The Leadership and Management of Safeguarding – The Annual Overview and Safeguarding Cycle. An overview of all safeguarding requirements across the academic year, essential actions on a daily, weekly, monthly, termly and annual basis, along with a suite of resources enabling practitioners to implement their duties to good effect.

Safer Recruitment - Single Central Record health check, Recruitment Checklist, Employment Files and Training . It is vital that schools and colleges create a culture of safer recruitment and, as part of that, adopt recruitment procedures that help deter, reject or identify people who might abuse children. This session will dispel any myths and ensure leaders are up to date with both statutory and Ofsted requirements.

Complaints and Allegations including - Effective Communication, Policy and Procedure and Training. ‘An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.’ This session will give hints and tips around Mediation, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Restorative Justice, as well as giving an insight into formalised procedures and how and when these are appropriate.

Cost Details

Each morning conference costs:

£ 65 per person for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough LA maintained schools.

£ 75 per person for out of county, Cambridgeshire academy and independent schools. ​​​​​​​
