featuring

Eustace de Sousa

National Lead for Health Inequalities and the Life Course │ Public Health England

and

Dr Helen Lowey

Director of Public Health │ Bolton Council

The Office of the Children’s Commissioner estimates that almost 2.3 million children are living in vulnerable circumstances in England.

This free seminar will hear from local and national speakers on how public health approaches can help prevent and mitigate against adverse experiences in childhood as well as help identify adults needing extra support because of childhood trauma.

Eustace will describe national public health work and cross-government work addressing vulnerabilities. Helen will then discuss how local authorities, together with the wider public sector, can bring about cultural change to enable an environment for children, young people and their families to build resilience that is based upon the science behind childhood adversity.
