The Improvement Service has been leading the coordination of a Local Community Partnership in North Lanarkshire on behalf of the Money and Pensions Service. The Financial Inclusion Service, North Lanarkshire Council was recruited as a key ‘champion’ in the partnership.

Organisations including employers, community groups and the local authority have been working together to target various interventions at the ‘working age’ population in North Lanarkshire, helping people to improve their financial wellbeing by getting into the habit of saving regularly and reducing the use of credit for everyday essentials.

In this webinar you will get to learn from

• Stakeholders involved with codesign, delivery and evaluation

• Money and Pensions Service

Across the UK:

• 23.9 million adults struggle to keep up, are falling behind or have fallen behind with their bills or credit commitments

• 9 million people are over indebted

• 10/7 million people are not saving regularly

20% of working-age adults often use a credit card, overdraft or borrow money to buy food or pay bills because they have run short of money. The UK Strategy for Financial Wellbeing was launched by the Money and Pension on 21 January 2020.

The strategy includes a number of key initiatives that are closely aligned with the North Lanarkshire Community Partnership:

• Enhancing access to affordable credit, and

• Encouraging people to save through payroll deduction schemes
