Manage your organisation’s data responsibly

Keep staff updated on information governance best practice and data protection legislation using our e-learning training tools.

During this time many staff have had to adapt to new ways of working in response to COVID-19, which has seen an increase in home working as staff adjust to working flexibly or take on new roles. Working practices have had to change which has created new opportunities but also risks.

Local authorities can do a lot to help their staff understand and mitigate risks by raising awareness of data protection issues associated with home working and the importance of being vigilant during this time.

Leeds City Council can provide Councils with a ‘peace of mind’ solution through its online data protection e-learning course. The e-Learning course for public sector employees contains modules, assessments and guidance on a wide range of topics, including working away from the office, creating strong passwords, reporting incidents and how to protect staff and systems against phishing and whaling incidents.

This is a key time for Information Governance managers to review their current training provision and identify new training courses which will improve skills and expertise, particularly in relation to information security and data protection.

Throughout August we are running several 1:1 demo sessions to showcase to local authorities our NEW public sector data protection e-Learning course. The 1:1 demo sessions will take place over Skype. Once registered, Leeds City Council will confirm the meeting and send you a meeting invite to join the session. Sessions typically last 30-40 minutes with time for Q&A.

If you would like to book a 1:1 demo of the NEW public sector data protection e-learning course or receive information about any of the other data protection courses, please get in touch. Contact  IG Solutions, Leeds City Council by emailing IGSolutions@leeds.gov.uk
