Collaboration and Innovation in Green Energy and Carbon Reduction
Getting from project to mainstream

Wednesday 12th September 2012, Edinburgh

Keynote Speaker
Fergus Ewing MSP - Minister for Energy, Enterprise & Tourism, Scottish Government

Conference Overview
This conference will be an excellent opportunity to understand what funding, support and advice is available, how to access - or prepare to bid for - project finance and what the increased focus on turning project innovation into project delivery on the ground means for all those working in the green energy and carbon reduction sectors.

As the EU develops an Innovation Union approach, this conference will discuss the challenges faced in understanding and engaging with the range of public and private sector funding routes currently available and emerging soon.  It will focus on the practicalities of assembling core project elements including planning, partnership, funding and achieving scale.  In particular it will examine:

•The strategic picture – policy objectives, the EU, funding innovative projects into deployed projects
•Business models for delivery – funding: where is it and how do you get it?
•Getting technology from developed to adopted
•What is the best way for projects and organisations to be proactive rather than reactive in order meet the hurdles of funding bids
•How can we ensure that projects are successfully deployed to help meet 2020 and 2050 emissions targets, particularly now that Scotland has set itself a target of generating the equivalent of 100% of its electricity consumption from renewables by 2020.
•Smart cities in practice – how policy, funding and business opportunity can come together
•Innovation and the built environment
