Some background information on work to date & the changes we will be discussing:

  • Since January 2011 to date, the LGA has delivered 52 Children's Safeguarding peer reviews to local authorities. They are making a significant contribution to sector led improvement, creating capacity and confidence and having an impact even in those authorities facing the most serious challenges.
  • We are now launching a revised & updated review methodology and guidance manual that reflects the current policy context and was developed with feedback from authorities and the results of an independent impact evaluation. We hope that the updated review even better addresses the needs and concerns of local authorities.
  • Updates include five new consolidated themes, a focus on the frontline and some added optional elements to look at the quality of practice and pace of improvement. The optional elements give extra flexibility to ensure each review is specifically tailored to the recipient organisation, thus ensuring maximum benefit to the sector.

Pete Rentell & Paul Curran look forward to answering your comments & questions on Thursday 12th July, 12:00 - 14:00
