Stockbridge Village is a housing estate which is one of the most deprived areas of Knowsley. The area suffers from high levels of unemployment, low levels of economic activity, low income levels, poor educational achievement and relatively high levels of crime.

This project turned things round by utilising customer insight techniques to better understand the lifestyles, ambitions, needs and desires of the inhabitants of the estate – especially the young people, aged 11-19 years of age.

Using this insight this project has increased positive activities. Youngsters on the estate also directly contributed to the design, use and management of the youth facilities within a newly developed leisure centre.

The project has also contributed to the fact that levels of crime on the estate dropped dramatically over this period - generating estimated savings of £375,000.
