The course is aimed at Trading Standards Officers and Environmental Health Officers whose work involves the enforcement of food standards legislation.

About the Programme

Aims

To provide Officers with practical guidance on food sampling techniques for the purposes of contaminants analysis.

 

Objectives

  • Consider the nature and incidence of common food contaminants
  • Review the types of foods that are vulnerable to contamination by mycotoxins, metals, dioxins etc
  • Review the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1881/2006
  • Provide practical guidance on sampling techniques

  • What are contaminants?
  • Where are they found?
  • Legal framework for sampling
  • Practical sampling techniques:
    Bulk sampling (manufacturers, imports)
    Retail sampling

 

The Cost

The course is available to UK enforcement officers free of charge (Unfortunately this course is not available to students or independent consultants).
