Flood Resilience Discovery Day

Events - Public

Starting 27 Feb 2015 - 10:00 through to 27 Feb 2015 - 17:00

You are invited to the Flood Resilience Discovery event that the Department for Communities and Local Government Local Digital Programme is running in Bristol on February 27th 2015.

This local-central discovery day will explore how all organisations involved in mitigating, responding to and recovering from floods can make better use of digital tools to increase UK flood resilience. It aims to identify areas where central and local government can collaborate on designing digital solutions to solve local problems, and identify digital products that could be built nationally, both to deliver savings and improve local services.

We will address the following key questions:

  • United front: How do we communicate with the public in a joined-up way, before, during and after a flood emergency?
  • Smart procurement: How can we improve information-sharing across systems and invest intelligently and collaboratively in technology to help us minimise flood damage?
  • Data quality: How do we organise accurate and timely submission of data from multiple agencies to our flood mitigation, management and recovery planning tools?
  • Community-led: How do we enable community-led response and recovery?

This event is designed specifically for rescue services, local and central government heads of service, assistant directors and service managers, ICT and digital specialists, and other public and 3rd sector roles that work in reducing the impact of flooding. Please note that the event is for public and select voluntary and 3rd sector employees only.
