Benefits management: benefits for you

Events - Public

Starting 13 Feb 2017 - 18:00 through to 13 Feb 2017 - 20:00

This is a joint event with the Lincoln International Business School, University of Lincoln.

The event will explore the role of benefits management in project management and wider management contexts. There is a growing body of evidence that a focus on benefits improves the success rates of projects and programmes and helps organisations to achieve their objectives. Therefore, there are benefits for you and your organisations in adopting benefits management.

The event will be suitable for those who are new to benefits management and also those who have some experience of benefits management methods and tools. After an introduction to the concept and the terminology surrounding benefits, the event will explore some of the practical issues involved. We will outline the benefits management life-cycle and relate it to the life-cycle of projects and programmes, for example in the role of benefits in the Business Plan.

At the heart of benefits management is benefits mapping, which is concerned with the cause and effect relationships required if benefits are to be realised. We will use an example of benefits mapping as a practical learning exercise for participants. This will serve as a useful introduction to the tool for those without previous experience of it, and an opportunity to reflect on the value of benefits mapping for those who already use it.
