Quarterly PHINE Network event.

This will be a general event with no topic theme, incorporating a regional update, plenary and 6 interactive table sessions. These are now confirmed as follows:

  • An introduction to SHAPE Place atlas- Andrew Billett, Principal Health Intelligence Analyst, Public Health England (PHE). Designed to meet the challenges posed for STP areas the SHAPE Place Atlas provides an enhanced interactive mapping component for STPs and local areas in order to support evaluation of the impact of service configuration on local populations and to provide intelligence to help assess the optimum location of services.
  • Creating basic maps in R- Paul Collingwood, Senior public health intelligence analyst, PHE. An introduction to the creation of maps in R, a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics, with a practical example of its use in creating maps and charts from public health data.
  • Embedded research to explore place based approaches to tackling health inequalities including childhood obesity in North East England. Mandy Cheetham, FUSE Postdoctoral Research Associate, Teesside University. A discussion focusing on the findings from a co-produced collaborative research project in Gateshead
  • NHS Digital adult social care data collections and publications. Jim Butler and Tony Childs – Adult Social Care Statistics Team, NHS Digital. An overview of the adult social care data that NHS Digital collect and publish.
  • Finding the evidence: Public Health. Rachel Gledhill, Knowledge and Evidence Specialist, PHE. An overview of tips and tricks on accessing high quality, robust evidence for public health interventions. This session will be an introduction to resources put together by PHE’s Knowledge and Library Services, including: searching healthcare databases, finding grey literature sources, and the new Discovery tool available to local authority public health teams.
  • 'We want to be together': The impact of public health co-production evaluations in County Durham. Dr Grant McGeechan, Kirsty Wilkinson, Dianne Woodall, Teesside University and Durham County Council.  Exploring the results of an on-going co-production evaluation initiative between the  university and local authority public health department.

The plenary session will be presented by Sonia Gill and Sam Dunne, both Public Health Analysts from the Knowledge and Intelligence division of Public Health England who will be taking an interactive look at the Local Health tool, including an exploration of the new revised data which will be released on October 12th.

This event is suitable for health professionals working in the public and community sector and those involved in health intelligence. The event is free of charge, however we are currently limited to 60 places. This event is not suitable for those in sales roles or those representing pharmaceutical companies.

Refreshments and registration from 9am with a 9:30am prompt start to the agenda.
