Our managing change evening will begin with a presentation from Dr Mark Hughes, an established author of Change Management. This highly acclaimed speaker will be followed by an introductory session supporting the launch of the SIGs new publication Introduction to Managing Change.

Dr Mark Hughes
is a Reader in Organisational Change at Brighton Business School within the University of Brighton; all of his research, teaching, scholarship and external engagement focuses upon this field. Mark is the Deputy Director of the Centre for Research on Management and Employment (CROME). His current interests relate to academic constructions and historiographies of organisational change and the leadership of organisational change. Critical interpretation of what is already known is an integral aspect of any university level offering and Mark's scholarship centres upon his textbook - Managing Change: A Critical Perspective. The textbook which was first published by the CIPD in 2006 resulted in a second edition being published in 2010.

An increasingly important university agenda is engaging with external clients in ways which have an impact. Mark has worked for many years on the facilitation of organisational change in the private, public and voluntary sectors. It is often these client relationships which enable the meaningful integration of research, teaching and scholarship around what we know about organisational change and what we still need to discover.

Mark has authored published work 27 times over the last 16 years, and sits as a member of the Editorial Board for The Journal of Change Management.

The evening will continue with a presentation from the APM Enabling Change SIG committee members who have contributed to the latest guide published by APM, Introduction to Managing Change.

The purpose of this publication is to introduce the importance of managing change effectively in order to successfully deliver and realise the benefits of projects, programmes and portfolios.
