Starting 15 Nov 2022 - 18:00 through to 15 Nov 2022 - 20:30

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport is currently carrying out a full modernisation of the Glasgow Subway including introduction of new trains, new signalling and telecommunication systems, station refurbishments, new ticketing and organisational change. The Glasgow Subway is the third oldest in the world having begun operation in 1896 and was last modernised in the 1970s.

Once complete the modernised system will be fully driverless and the first unattended metro in the UK. The new system will deliver a modern communication based train control system (CBTC) and passenger screen doors.

This seminar will provide an overview of the project, some of the challenges already overcome and an update on the current status of the project.
