Haringey Gambling Harms Summit 2023

Events - Public

Starting 23 Jan 2023 - 13:30 through to 23 Jan 2023 - 17:30

Excited to share an event organised by our Public Health team - the Haringey Gambling Harms Summit taking place this coming Monday (January 23rd) from 1:30pm - 5:30pm at Alexandra Palace.

We estimate that more than 4,000 residents of Haringey have a gambling problem, and six times as many are harmed by someone else’s gambling addiction, as the impact ripples through families, workplaces, and wider communities. In some parts of our borough, the density of gambling premises is nearly six times the national average. Due to the significant distress gambling causes our residents, Haringey Council started a campaign to reduce gambling harms.

The Summit will showcase the work that has been going on in Haringey, look at a London perspective, the Greater Manchester experience, and the keynote will be delivered by Prof Henrietta Bowden-Jones OBE (the National Clinical Advisor on Gambling Harms) on the psychology of gambling addictions. It is an excellent opportunity to share insights and network with other professionals who are passionate about combating gambling harms. The conference will be attended by representatives from our NHS Integrated Care Board, mental health trust, hospital trusts, community services and our voluntary sector, as well as Haringey Council’s senior executives and elected members.

If you’re interested to find out more, please do sign up or share with colleagues/ networks. There are still in-person and virtual tickets available.

Hopefully see some of you there!
