Welcome to the latest event under our ‘Making Connections’ theme - Connecting Practice and Research.
This is is an all day event split into two sections. Starting at 10.00 is the more research focused element. At 16.00 the emphasis shifts to a focus on how to research and practice can be combined for mutual benefit. APM members are welcome to attend all day. However the evening session is largely stand alone for those who want a shorter session.

This is a University of Manchester event that the APM and APM North West Branch are supporting.

The iron triangle is widely accepted as the goal standard for measuring project success. Apart from technical project management skills, delivering the three dimensions requires the use of soft skills and subtle interventions (in the form of nudges) to guide the project team towards achieving project outcomes . Nudges are subtle ways of influencing an individual’s choice . While their use is predominant in the field of behavioural economics and public policy, their implementation has not been fully explored in the context of project performance management.

The purpose of this Research symposium and doctoral workshop is to bring together PhD Researchers at all stages of their research and industry practitioners to share ideas and advance new knowledge. Based on the behavioural science concept of nudges, this event will unpack 21 nudge tools that can be used by project managers to directly and indirectly improve time, cost and quality performance in projects.
