About this event

This session is all about raising awareness of money related safeguarding issues that may arise when supporting vulnerable adults or those in vulnerable circumstances. Over an hour and a half online workshop, you'll get a chance to meet and talk with others who also work in supportive or caring roles, and share your experiences and ideas about how best to help with money issues.

We're teaming up with Calderdale CouncilWomenCentre Calderdale & Kirklees, Quaker Social Action and the Money Guiders England Network, and the Money Guiders Wales Network, to bring you this event during Calderdale Safeguarding Awareness Week 19th to 23rd June 2023.

Who is leading the session?

The session is being lead by the Money Guiders England network and will have speakers from Calderdale Council and WomenCentre Calderdale and Kirklees.

  • Individual life events (e.g. bereavement, redundancy, retirement) and personal characteristics (e.g. age, disability) that may impact on money / income / risk / vulnerable circumstances
  • Indicators of illegal money lending and how to refer / signpost to support
  • Common financial scams and how to help prevent them / spot them
