About this event

Housing Rights joins the Money Guiders NI Network for an in-person event at the Maldron Hotel in Belfast City Centre.

We will be looking at Housing Rights and their range of services, having a discussion about a variety of money related topics relevant to Northern Ireland and ultimately aiming to empower future practitioner conversations with their clients.

Learning outcomes

From this session attendees will gain insight into:

• Challenges affecting tenants & home owners in NI financing their homes

• Benefits issues relating to housing e.g: Universal Credit, Rates Rebate etc

• Changes to interest rates – impacts on mortgage holders, landlords & tenants

• Financial Capability in NI

• Vulnerable clients and the support practitioners can porvide

• Assistance that is available to help with managing housing costs

• Sharing details on your services and support tools

• Peer to peer support as well as a Q&A

• Facilitated networking with a range of NI organisations

• Free refreshments and lunch will be provided.

We will also be looking at Case Studies that are relevant and applicable to the topics above.

Housing Rights is the leading provider of independent housing advice in Northern Ireland. They have been delivering high-quality specialist training on housing and homelessness related issues to professionals working in the housing sector for over 20 years.  

Housing Rights provide a broad range of training courses on housing and welfare related issues, and we offer both accredited and non-accredited courses.  These courses help to enable housing and welfare professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills and deliver high quality advice services to their clients; as well as supporting continuous professional development and enhancing their career prospects.

Who should attend?

All money guidance practitioners are welcome to attend this free event. This could include staff in Northern Ireland who are supporting service users and anyone offering guidance to improve the financial wellbeing and empower money conversations.

The Money Guidance Competency Framework

This event is designed to help you improve your money guidance practice, developing skills, confidence and knowledge around a specific money related area. Everything that the Money Guiders programme offers centres around the Money Guidance Competency Framework -

Foundation Level - Signposting customers: all practitioners – no matter their job role – must be able to elicit simple, factual information from the customer in order to signpost them to appropriate sources of further support, advice or information.

Before attending this session, you could spend some time considering the challenges you face in your work, specifically when you provide help and guidance to your clients or service users around money issues.
