Building an inclusive culture: How to be an effective LGBTQ+ ally

Events - Public

Starting 01 Nov 2023 - 17:00 through to 01 Nov 2023 - 19:00

This event is aimed at our Emerging Professional Network and will focus on how you can support LGBTQ+ peers.

In recent decades we have seen a rise in the openness and acceptance of LGBTQ+ rights within society, and the workplace. Despite this progress, many LGBTQ+ people still face discrimination and are unable to access the same opportunities presented to their colleagues.

  • Stonewall, the largest LGBTQ+ organisation in Europe, has shared that:
  • One in five were the target of negative comments at work.
  • Over a third feel they need to hide who they are at work.
  • One in five feel that being LGBTQ+ limits their job opportunities.

It is clear that many workplaces are falling short in their goals of inclusion. At this session, you will learn how you can be a better ally, and support inclusivity within your organisation.

In this session our panel of LGBTQ+ will share their experiences, along with examples of interventions they have seen which has made a positive difference.
