On 7 June 2022, the Improvement Service published a 'Collaborative Council Tax Collection' a guide aimed at Scottish local authorities and advice providers, on working collaboratively to improve how council tax and council tax debt is collected.

As financial pressures on households increase many individuals are having to make difficult decisions about how to spend their money. After buying food and paying for other essentials, for many there isn't enough left over to pay bills and debts. Evidence suggests that arrears of council tax are growing so the need to for the Guide remains relevant.

This session will offer a brief overview of the Guide, consider the extent to which it is used consistently and signpost sources of advice and information that may be of use to Money Guiders.

It provides an update to last April's Money Guiders Scotland event, when the network was first introduced to the Guide.

You’ll have a chance to put your questions to our speaker during this event.
