Peer to peer learning event

Hosted by the Money Guiders England Network

The Money Guider's England network is run by Quaker Social Action (QSA), an anti poverty charity based in London.

QSA helps people on low incomes in east London and across the UK to seek solutions to the issues affecting their lives.

Founded 150 years ago by the religious group Quakers, today QSA is an independent charity inspired by Quaker values like equality in our work against poverty and injustice.

The session will focus on reviewing and discussing a published report that has an impact on the money guidance you deliver.

This will be an opportunity for attendees to:

  • Share your experiences based on the report
  • Discuss the implications of the report and how it affects the work that you do to help improve your assessment and problem solving skills and discover new ways to support your customers/clients
  • Learn from other money guiders -by getting insights and resources from fellow money guiders including tools that they're using to help them in carrying out their role

A copy of the report will be shared with all registrants prior to the event.

Why attend this event

1. To learn from and network with other money guiders

2. To share best practice

3. Provide a safe space for learning and peer support

Money Guidance Competency Framework

Money Guidance Foundations: Self management. C2 Improve practice. Practitioners should be capable of accepting feedback/criticism in a positive manner and assessing its validity and importance. They should seek to evaluate their own performance, either against set targets and goals, or by reflecting on their own work and actions. Setting and prioritising clear and realistic goals and targets for own development and using a range of valid and reliable evidence to assess own work, which includes an assessment of the effects of own behaviour and values on others, is a critical part of practitioners’ improving practice/continuing professional development.

C3 Continuing professional development

Practitioners must keep up to date with legislation, codes of practice and guidelines, understanding the importance of complying with national, local, professional and organisational requirements. It is imperative that practitioners maintain an understanding of the limitations of their role, their own limits and those of the service. Finally, they must maintain the required soft skills necessary to deal with customers e.g. effective communication skills.
