Join the Money Guiders NI Network and Menstruation Matters Belfast to learn how the programme support young people and children in poverty.

About this event and organisation

Join us for a session with Menstruation Matters Belfast, a law changing campaign that reshapes the conversation on periods, alleviates period poverty for those in need and campaigns for the provision of free period products in all toilets.

Menstruation Matters offer period packs reach rough sleepers, women's refuges, disadvantaged young people, homeless hostels, food banks, refugees & asylum seekers, survivors of human trafficking, individuals and families of low income.

We will look at ways you can help them meet the needs of those experiencing period poverty by learning more about the local o donation points. Currently we are campaigning for free period products in all toilets through our #MenstruationMatters campaign. We believe that any toilet that requires toilet paper, requires period products in exactly the same way.

Learning Outcomes

During this session we’ll discuss the reality of period poverty in NI and how the taboo and stigma that surrounds menstruation is inextricably linked to this issue. You’ll also find out how you can do your bit to ensure no one goes without the essential items to get them through their period!

Who should attend?

This course is designed for frontline staff working in a range of organisations who support people experience poverty. All money guidance practitioners are welcome to attend this free event. This could include staff who are supporting service users with difficult conversations about the need for essentials and anyone offering guidance to improve the financial wellbeing of their service users.

Everything that the Money Guiders programme offers centres around the Money Guidance Competency Framework - it's there to help you better understand the full breadth and depth of money related issues that fall outside of the regulated financial advice service sector - the things you talk to your customers about.
