Borrowing, loans and Credit

Training delivered to front line staff, those working in the community and in a position to help members of the public to understand credit, lending and borrowing as well as understanding how your credit score affects your lending options. Many people are accessing credit to cover the rising cost of living and at this time of year, when there is pressure to provide expensive gifts at Christmas, having affordable credit options will help prevent unmanageable debt going into the New Year.

About this event

With the current pressure on family finances due to the cost-of-living crisis, families are looking to borrow and access credit to cover rising costs and, in the run up to Christmas festive expenses.

This session will raise awareness of the:

  • Main sources of credit and the differences between them.
  • How to avoid illegal or informal money lending.
  • Look at affordable credit options and highlight how you can improve your credit score allowing access to more affordable credit options.

Timings and Audience

  • The training is a 1.5-hour session.
  • The training is available to all front-line workers and those working in the community.
  • The training is aimed at anyone who encounters members of the public, either face to face or by telephone, who are looking to access credit to cover the rising cost-of-living or finance Christmas.

Training will take place online (Zoom) with a presentation, breakout sessions and varied interactive activities and discussion.
