Join the Money Guiders NI Network and Advice NI for a workshop on how you support service user with debt

About this event and organisation

Advice NI is a membership organisation that exists to provide leadership, representation and support for the Independent Advice Network in Northern Ireland. They support 70 members across NI, who provide advice on benefits, debt, housing, employment and consumer related issues.

Advice NI also delivers a range of advice services to the public via a Freephone helpline which includes Debt & Money, Benefits, Tax Credits & HMRC products/services, EU Settlement Scheme, Covid-19 advice and Business Debt.

Who is leading the session?

Specialist Advisers from Advice NI will be providing information on their Debt and Business Debt Services.

Learning Outcomes

The session will provide information on how Advice NI can help service users, discuss options available to deal with debt and how to contact Advice NI for further support and signposting facilities.

Who should attend?

All money guiders and practitioners are welcome to attend this free event. This could include (but not limited to) staff in Northern Ireland who are supporting service users with debt or financial concerns, for example:

• Money advisors/coaches

• Employment coaches

• Anyone providing guidance to improve the financial wellbeing of the users of their service

From the framework we will be covering Foundation knowledge and compliance: Signposting Customers. This workshop is aimed to fit within the Money Guidance Technical Domains Section 2 - Debt (Tier 1) and Foundation Competency E - Signposting Customers.

The Money Guiders Programme

Money Guiders is a programme run by The Money Pensions Service MaPS, which seeks to help money guidance practitioners improve their knowledge, skills and confidence. Everything that the Money Guiders programme offers centres around the Money Guidance Competency Framework - it's there to help you better understand the full breadth and depth of money related issues that fall outside of the regulated financial advice service sector - the things you talk to your customers about.
