About this event and organisation

Brain Injury Matters (NI) – Information on Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), impact and supports for ABI in Northern Ireland.

Over 75% of people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) experience daily challenges as a result of their disability being “hidden” (Headway, 2022). Brain Injury Matters is a Northern Ireland-based charity whose mission is to make sure support is visible and in reach, for people with ABI and their families. Brain Injury Matters provide a range of services for adults, children and their families, including therapeutic intervention, counselling, arts, sports and advocacy.

Who is leading the session?

Tara-Lynne Van Zyl

Learning Outcomes

This session aims to increase awareness of ABI – how it can occur; its varying and significant effects on daily living, work, finances, relationships, and education; how we as friends, colleagues, neighbours and family members can support those with ABI; and how to refer for support for ABI.

Who should attend?

All money guiders, money guidance practitioners and volunteers are welcome to attend this fully funded event. This could include (but not limited to) staff in Northern Ireland who are supporting service users with difficult conversations and anyone offering guidance to improve the financial wellbeing of the users of their service.
