About this event

Moving into a new home should be a time of excitement, not trepidation. For existing tenants, a place to live should be an opportunity for stability and security, not somewhere to feel unsettled or at risk. Somewhere to call our own is fundamental for the business of living well. In many ways, providing the keys is the easy bit. The hard bit for professionals is catching tenants when the wheels are wobbling and enabling them to thrive. Whether we are experienced in it or not, people will look to us to offer practical tips for managing a household budget. But there’s more to financial resilience, and preventing homelessness, than ensuring the rent is paid on time.

At Firm Foundations: Shoring Up Successful Tenancies, Jeff Mitchell, founder of Clean Slate Training & Employment, will lead a discussion on what it takes to promote the financial resilience of new tenants. He will present insights from the Quids in! Money Guidance initiative to uncover the key messages to share with tenants on lower incomes and the red flags to watch out for. Attendees will explore ways to help ensure people are given the best possible chance to thrive, building on the foundations of a secure home to call their own.
