This session is being delivered by SwanseaMAD in collaboration with the Money Guiders Wales Network.

A session for practitioners that work with older people to help them to navigate online banking, understand financial jargon and raise awareness of scams.

Workshop Content:

  • Financial jargon - How do you explain Debits, Credits, Arrears, and Debt to the people you work with?
  • Why are high streets banks closing branches?
  • Understand what resources already exist that can be used to support older people
  • How to support older people to use banking apps and why it can get complicated
  • Two-factor authentication – what this is and how to help older people to understand this
  • Importance of passwords and keeping passwords protected
  • Being aware of scams and what key things people should look out for (incl. what to do if they think someone has been a subject of a scam)
  • The emergence of Artificial Intelligence and how it is currently and could impact older people.
