Mentoring: What’s the point?

Events - Public

Starting 14 May 2024 - 17:30 through to 14 May 2024 - 20:00

The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and Association for Project Management (APM) Yorkshire & North Lincolnshire network would like to welcome you to discuss mentoring: what’s the point?

No matter what stage you are in your career a mentor can be an invaluable resource to help and guide you. Being a mentor can put you in a privileged position to give back to the project profession being part of someone else’s journey using your own knowledge and past experiences.

Many professional skills don’t come overnight and need to be developed, practiced and improved through coaching, mentoring and experiences. This event is to address how mentoring can help aid that process and how different organisations will do this differently.

The purpose of this event is to:

  • Discuss what mentoring is and how it is done
  • How do different organisations manage mentoring and provide the best scheme.
  • The relationship between mentor and mentee and how to get the best out of it.
  • The different responsibilities of the mentor and the mentee.
  • Provide an opportunity for emerging project professions to network with peers.

At the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre we’re shaping the future. Our researchers are leading the way on several different technologies.

We’re also helping to secure UK manufacturing, training hundreds of apprentices and reskilling the current workforce to create the pool of talent the sector needs to thrive and grow.

Every day we work with companies of all sizes — including SMEs, start-ups, and large-scale manufacturers — to help them improve their productivity and save time, money, and energy.

In short, the AMRC make things faster, cheaper, safer, cleaner, and more sustainable.
