Join the Money Guiders NI Network where we will hear from MCE Comms on how you can support service users with TV Licensing.

About this event and organisation

MCE Comms will be talking through the various concessions offered to certain people by TV Licensing and the many different ways to help and support people within our community who may be vulnerable.

We will look at Payment plans, Scam Awareness and financial support for vulnerable customers as well as a case study to implement your learning from the session.

Who is leading the session?

Alana Taylor-Crawford & Edward Ferrin

Learning Outcomes

The session will empower money guiders to be aware of scams, attendees will learn how to help prevent their services users in becoming victims through educational resources and a interactive case study. Sadly, scams of all types such as phone calls, emails and texts are on the increase. TV Licensing wants to help support its customers to stay safe and protect themselves against fraudsters. To help stop the scammers, we are asking people to STOP – CHECK – ASK if they receive any suspicious communications.

What concessions are available to you service users?

If you support service users who are struggling financially, we will look at support for a payment plan. We will take a look at the concessions that are in place for people in supported housing and blind or vulnerable service users.

Who should attend?

All money guiders and practitioners are welcome to attend this free event. This could include (but not limited to) staff in Northern Ireland who are supporting service users with difficult conversations and anyone offering guidance to improve the financial wellbeing of the users of their service.

Links to the Money Guidance Competency Framework

This event is designed to help you improve your money guidance practice, developing skills, confidence and knowledge around a specific money related area. Everything that the Money Guiders programme offers centres around the Money Guidance Competency Framework - it's there to help you better understand the full breadth and depth of money related issues that fall outside of the regulated financial advice service sector - the things you talk to your customers about.

Technical Domain 1. Knowing your customer Tier 1 and Tier 2.

Technical Domain 5. Budgeting and cashflow – Reducing household outgoings

Foundation Level - Signposting customers: all practitioners – no matter their job role – must be able to elicit simple, information from the customer in order to signpost them to appropriate sources of further support, advice or information.

Before attending this session, you could spend some time considering the challenges you face in your work, specifically when you provide help and guidance to your clients or service users around money issues.
