Taking Flight from Financial Fears: The Role of Money Guidance in Financial Wellbeing

The challenge for support staff helping vulnerable people is how to make their help go the longest way. Non-financial specialists can come up against barriers when their customers or clients run aground with their money. So, a good grounding in the basics of money guidance can also help clear the blockages from health, education and employment outcomes.

The road to financial resilience can be long but the first mile could be down hill, easing participants in gently. Setting long-term goals, building a plan, working through a process, but starting with a few quick wins can establish momentum. At its best, effective money guidance triggers trust becoming hope becoming self-belief. Participants don’t only gain financially, they benefit from headspace and room to breathe, consider their options and make changes.
