Security and privacy 

Knowledge Hub is securely hosted across multiple UK cloud facilities provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS), and managed by its owners, Placecube Limited. Both AWS and Placecube are ISO/IEC 27001 certified, and Placecube also holds Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, assuring top-tier security.
 

We take the security of our platform and our users' data seriously. The Knowledge Hub uses HTTPS with strong 256-bit encryption for secure connections, and all data is protected at rest with AES256 enterprise-grade encryption. Our cloud platform is designed with security at its core. Access to data centres is strictly controlled and monitored 24/7 with video surveillance and ID checks.

To combat threats, the Knowledge Hub uses ClamAV® antivirus to scan for malware when content is uploaded. Our underlying software, Liferay, is regularly penetration tested by Veracode, and the entire platform undergoes independent penetration testing by a CHECK service provider.

Availability and Data back-up

We aim to provide at least a 99.9% uptime service availability level. The service is fully resilient, with no single points of failure throughout the technology stack.

Data is backed up multiple times daily, with backups stored across three physical locations within the UK. The recovery time objective for the service is 4 hours and the recovery point objective is 1 hour. 

Government-approved, universally available

Staff security protocol 

All Placecube staff with responsibility for Knowledge Hub have undergone appropriate employment security checks. That’s why all our staff are certified with security clearance that conforms to BS7858:2019 and Government security clearance, up to Security Clearance (SC).

General Data Protection Regulation

As a registered data controller, Placecube takes its responsibility regarding members’ personal data seriously. We are committed to delivering appropriate and secure practices when processing members' personal data and their security online. 

Online Safety Act 2003

As part of our commitment to providing a safe and secure platform, we have completed the online safety and illegal content risk assessments as required by the Online Safety Act 2023 and determined that Knowledge Hub falls within the low-risk category.

We have robust procedures to address any instances of illegal content and are committed to maintaining a safe and productive environment.
