I came across a great article from Martha Iring. With more and more people just starting to use Google Analytics to view metrics from the groups on the Knowledge Hub. This is quiet timely as Martha exaplins what you can do with it.
Many of you will have Analytics set up. But do you ever use it? And I’m talking really using it, not just popping in to have a look at...

I thought I would try out Scoopit as a way to content curate regarding online facilitation.
This is my first attempt. I hope you can see it.

I picked this up via David Gurteen who mentioned that Ankur Makhija of eClerx Services have recently uploaded a few more KM mini-interviews to their YouTube channel. The latest are with Edward Rogers (CKO Of NASA) and include:
Most Common KM Mistakes
Difference Between Organizational Learning and Knowledge Management
Best Ways to Transfer Tacit Knowledge

This is a great blog post from Rachel Happe from Community Roundtable, That I thought would be great to share
Community management is one of those things that, when working well, often goes unnoticed and unappreciated. It’s a bit like that hostess that always has fantastic parties but no one really understands the hard work that went into the party itself. However, when...

On Sunday night (if you stayed up that late or got up that early) you would have seen the Oscars.
Michael Hahn wrote a great little blog, looking at the idea of Oscars for Community Managers/Facilitators
This is the weekend when the Oscars will be live on television. The Oscars are the most prestigious awards given for the movie industry. The endless amount of news on the...

What do members want?
If you want to start a community (or improve an existing one), you might begin by asking members what they want.
Members will say they want interesting, relevant, information. They want advice. They want entertaining content.
Facilitaors then works overtime to create this interesting, relevant, entertaining content.
If it...

This is a great post from Community Roundtable, which I missed on Groundhog Day, but still worth a mention
When we think of the day to day and the year to year of what community management is, we think of Groundhog Day. Not the actual event, where a furry creature tells us if winter will last or not...no we mean the movie starring Bill Murray.
Same Task Different...

Back in 2010 Melcom produced a survey of communications practitioners that revealed the level of social media expertise in the profession as poor – with around half unconvinced of its value to knowledge management.
More than 2,600 internal communication professionals responded, with 1,800 from organisations with more than 500 employees.
I've not found anything more upto date...

After extensive and scientific research I can now tell you the years and months that will make you a great facilitator.
But first a bit of background to this ground breaking research. The research using the back of a napkin and some great surveying by Blaise Grimes – Viort’s and his Zodiac Signs Survey conducted with 180 community managers and my Chinese New Year Zodiac Signs Survey...

This is a bit of fun and a follow up to Will your Star Sign make you a better online facilitator?
With it being Chinese New Year on the 23rd Jan I was wondering if the year of your birth would have any effect in you becoming an online facilitator.
It would be interesting to see if it does.

This is a great post by Phil Wride especially with wikipedia today.
Rest assured this isn’t another Community Management post linking back to a film as some of my others have. This is actually about what’s happening now; SOPA. With many sites and several social networks planning to “go dark” in protest of the bill it just highlights how important it is to have...

Don’t forget next Monday is Community Facilitator/Manager Appreciation Day
Just in case you don’t know about it check it out on wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Manager_Appreciation_Day
It’s so easy just to say thank you to those hard working facilitators who are jack of all trades and have the strange task of being part detective, part sociologist, part bouncer,...

It's time for the THIRD annual CMAD on the 23rd of January. Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Manager_Appreciation_Day What to do? It's so easy: Thank your Community Manager in blog posts, tweets, hugs, or gift them tea, cakes and biscuits Or use a combination, everyone knows that Community Facilitators / Managers love biscuits.
Community Manager...

This is a question that gets asked a lot. For all those that are facilitating a Community of Practice you know that it is hard work. And that you have to be slightly mad to do it.
And for those bosses out there please realise the amount of effort that goes into to facilitating a community, and that they need support and help. Because is very rare that you can...

Another great post by Richard Millington over at Feverbee. I will be remembering this one.
Have we made the group / community interesting?
Richard say "It's not the conflicts, spam, provocative members, off-topic discussions and technology troubles that will cause members to quit.
In extreme proportions (notably with spam), members might eventually leave....

Everyone seems to be going down with a cold at the moment where I work.
But what happens when your community gets a cold?
What are the symptoms and what are the remedies?
Symptom - No participation or activity e.g. No new documents, links, discussion threads, announcements or news posted
Remedy - Post new content, requesting feedback and comments to elicit new...
