'Moving More, Living More' Inactivity Regional forum dates - July 2014

The 'Moving More, Living More' regional forums to be held this July provide a regional platform to explore effective approaches to addressing insufficient levels of physical activity and the health, economic and social impacts. Forums are being held in Birmingham, Leeds, London, Cambridge and Bristol between the 10th and 17th July.

Low and declining levels of physical activity are having detrimental health, economic and social impacts on individuals, families, communities and local services. There is a clear need to develop a long-term, strategic, cross-sector approach to address this significant and worsening problem throughout England.

As a space for discussion between senior national and local leaders, the forums are structured as a mixture of presentations of emerging evidence and workshops to explore implications for local areas and how to enable cross-sector, multi-level approaches which can lead to long term population level change in physical activity levels.

Morning presentations and workshops will focus on emerging issues and opportunities. Afternoon sessions will explore practical solutions, including challenges and opportunities at local level. These sessions will provide the opportunity to shape the national physical activity implementation framework to be published late 2014.

The 'Moving More, Living More' campaign is attempting to bring central and local government as well as other partners to work together to bring about an increase in physical activity levels alongside changes to lifestyles to develop improved health and wellbeing among the population.
