Public Health England (PHE) launched the 2014 Health Profiles for each local authority in England on 8th July
The 2014 Health Profiles are now available as online interactive maps, charts and tables through the Health Profiles tool. A four page summary pdf document is also available for each area from the Health Profile website - these are updated annually. 2014 Health Profiles are now linked to all county and single tier local authority areas through the Map of Health and Wellbeing Board priorities in England.
Health Profiles is a programme to improve availability and accessibility for health and health-related information in England. The profiles give a snapshot overview of health for each local authority in England. Health Profiles are produced annually. Designed to help local government and health services make decisions and plans to improve local people's health and reduce health inequalities, the profiles present a set of health indicators that show how the area compares to the national average.
The profiles are produced at local authority level because they are intended for use by elected Councillors, Directors of Public Health, Council Officers and other members of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) process, and by members of the Health and Wellbeing Boards. Health Profiles are now an established part of planning for health improvement. Each Health Profile document includes:
• An ‘At a glance’ summary description of people’s health in the area
• Maps and charts that show how the health in the area compares to the national and local view
• Trended information showing changes in death rates over a ten year period of time
• A 'spine chart' health summary showing the difference in health between the area and the average for England for 32 indicators
