The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) is updating the Indices of Deprivation and have recently appointed Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion (OCSI) to carry out the work. Before producing updated indices, DCLG intend to review existing deprivation indicators and statistical methods, and consider potential new data sources. The review will focus on refining, rather than making major changes to, the existing indices.
DCLG are keen to hear users’ views as early in the process as possible to feed into the development and design of the indices. There will be a final consultation on the full set of proposals in the autumn, aiming to publish the updated indices in summer 2015.
