Workforce surveys - social care informatics - closing date 15 January 2015

Skills for Care and the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) have been commissioned by the Department of Health to explore the size, scale and professional development needs of the informatics workforce. The aim of this survey is to produce a national profile of the social care informatics workforce in March 2015, as well as a set of practical recommendations on how their professional development needs can be supported in the future. These will be launched at a national conference on Thursday 26th February 2015.
The term  ‘informatics’ relates to staff whose role is concerned with the collection and analysis of social care data, and/or the sharing of social care data and information and/or the use and development of technologies that can facilitate this. These surveys are not just about those staff working in technical ICT support but also the analysts, change managers, project and programme managers and people working in the area of information governance, to name but a few.

Two surveys are available - one for organisations that employ over 250 people, and a separate survey for individual staff who consider themselves as part of the informatics workforce. The closing date for both is Thursday 15th January 2015.

If you have any queries or concerns about the research or need any support completing the survey, please contact informatics@skillsforcare.org.uk.
