Heidi De Wolf 9 Years Ago I have another very simple case example. An apprentice fairly new to the Council wanted to know how to order polo shirts with embroidery and whether there were any existing contracts in place. This is what happned: - Within one minute someone highlighted that Fire & Rescue may be a good place to start - Wiyhin 5 minutes a total stranger from across the Council pointed to someone in Trading Standards - Within 1/2 hour someone in Registration said she had ordered polo shirts before and would be willing to talk the apprentice through the process of procuring polo shirts - Within 1 hour someone in Procurement asked if she could get in touch with all of the above about aligning all these into one contract One tiny example, but benefits include: - In a world where people move around and work loads change hands a lot, Yammer allows for quick answers - Mentorship for apprentices - Identification of duplication - Aligning of contracts for improved economies of scale across the Council I have a similar example for the use of Knowledge Hub, where a colleague wanted to learn about Talent Management practices used by other Councils. So she posed a question on the Workforce Matters group. Within a day a few responses identified contacts within other Councils and really helpful telephone conversations helped my colleague to take her work forward with lessons learned by others. Don't knock it or misjudge it! These are very powerful tools which could make a significant difference to the Public Sector and other Public Services providers! Not to mention the great people behind the scenes who work hard to make your experience as smooth as possible (but please note KH is still in Beta). 3 Reply as... Cancel
