We recently ran a discussion in the Online Facilitators' Community on KHub about using social media to grow your group. Dimple Rathod helpfully summarised the main points. Anymore tips to add? Q1. How can you identify the influencers on social media? Identify who the offline influencers are, search for their online persona, and find out who they are connected to. Use simple... See more

In an earlier post I spoke about how I thought the unconference part of LocalGovCamp 2014 was all about mobilising the local government sector and embracing change. The Friday was focused on Leaders - councillors and chief executives - and was equally as inspiring. Here's a short video explaining why (and it's not just me talking!)   To see all the lightening talks from... See more

In my earlier post, I outlined the importance of considering social value in everything we do on Knowledge Hub.   I'm going to keep this short as I want to make it clear what KHub is all about.   Everyone (and I mean everyone) can come and join KHub for free. Please spread the word!   Groups that are open or restricted are free (we will continue charging for private... See more

Through sponsorship from Knowledge Hub, we will provide a local programme of free events and networking drinks open to all sectors - public, private and not-for-profit. Our webpage sets out some of our ambitions which I’m sure will grow in time as the network becomes more... See more

Why am I writing this now? Well it's six months since myself and three of the team (Michael, Dimple and Liz) moved from the LGA to CapacityGrid. I think we're lucky to have landed in a place where everyone around us wants Knowledge Hub to succeed. True, it's been challenging working out the best way to make Knowledge Hub financially viable without public funding and, yes, we've had to pivot... See more

I've read some great blogs about the success of Councillor Camp. Indeed, good on Futuregov for forcing the agenda and bringing together in one room possibly the most councillors EVER to talk about the importance of social media and digital in local government. Now, I was there too and did feel truly inspired. (The hashtag, #cllrcamp, trended at number 1 for a while - amazingly, above... See more
